Turkeyville! Covid-19 Edition
Every Thanksgiving Day since 2006, Epworth has sponsored a free Thanksgiving meal to all who wanted to come. Our wonderful kitchen@epworth crew organized the meal, a community fellowship event. This year, with the pandemic, our Turkeyville event must be different. The wonderful teams at kitchen@epworth, Rescue at Epworth, Good Sam Mobile and Food Pantry still want to provide a Thanksgiving meal, but in a different format.
The food ministry teams will be providing a Turkeyville meal in a box for the community. Because we cannot prepare the items on site, you will receive, in the box, all the ingredients for a great Thanksgiving dinner at your home. The Turkey Ville box will include: Turkey breast or roasting chicken, stuffing, boxed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables, bread, and pie. Our wonderful teams will box up all the items and be ready to place it in your car on the date you select.
All you need to do is register for a Turkeyville box by calling Epworth at 302-227-7743 and ask to register for a box. Or you can drive up at Good Sam Mobile on Sundays from 1-3 PM, Tuesdays from 9 AM to noon, or Thursdays from 2 to 4 PM (new time) and ask for a registration form. Complete and return the form (providing your name, phone #, e-mail, family size, and day you wish to pick up) to the Good Sam team at the Oceanside portico. The same happy and smiling faces from the food ministry will be there to serve you. Pickup dates for the boxes will be Thursday, November 19 (2-4 PM), Sunday, November 22 (1-3 PM), and Tuesday, November 24 (9 AM – noon). We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
Turkeyville will return after the pandemic ends.
Also, look for our Christmas meal box request forms in early December.
Four years ago, we lost our founder, Diane Leitch to cancer. While Diane is not with us in body, she will always be here in spirit. We miss Diane tremendously and we work on in her memory. Her loving smile lives on in our hearts.
Food and financial donations
If you are interested in donating a turkey breast (only, no big turkeys), pies, boxed potatoes and stuffing, canned corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, or gravy or money toward the dinner, please drop off these donations during our Good Sam hours at the Bayside porticoed doors on the days we are open, beginning Tuesday, November 10. If you would like to make a cash donation, $25 will cover the cost of a a Turkeyville box.
