Palm & Passion Sunday
Holy Week begins on Palm & Passion Sunday when we do two things in Worship: First, we recall Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, according to Mark’s gospel. We will also hear the next message in our sermon series on the the treatment of Jesus by the soldiers who mock, torture and humiliate him. At Epworth Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing and distribution of Palm branches similar to those that the crowds scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem.
Maundy Thursday
Holy Week continues on Maundy Thursday evening as we experience Holy Communion is the setting of Jesus and the 12 Disciples did during the Last Supper. We will continue on through and remember The Betrayal of Jesus by Judas.
Good Friday

On Good Friday, we continue our journey with Christ through his darkest of days as we complete the 24 Hours That Changed the World with his trial, crucifixion and death..  There will be scripture readings for each of the seven shadows: betrayal, denial, aloneness, accusation, suffering, crucifixion, and death.  During this service the altar will be stripped of its adornments and shrouded in black.  We will leave the sanctuary in darkness. Christ has died.

Easter Sunday

We will begin Easter Sunday as Mary and the Disciples did in darkness… just a hint of the sun… with the Community SonRise Service at the Bandstand at 6:00am. The sun will rise over the Atlantic at 6:27. We continue to sing our loud Hallelujahs and celebrate the Risen Lord with Church Services at Epworth – Traditional worship at 7:45, Contemporary worship at 9:15 with our Praise! Team, and Traditional worship at 11:15am with the Chancel Choir.

Our Worship is brought to us through the dedication and planning of the Connecting to God Ministry Team at Epworth. This team is lead by our Pastors, Rev. Dr Vicki Gordy-Stith, Rev. Todd Shultz and our Director of Music Ministries, Doug Yetter.
Together with the Worship Design Team, they spend countless hours planning the themes and choosing the Scriptures and music for each service. They also design all of the visuals and the begin rehearsing and setting up and finally presenting the Worship Services for you.
We thank them for their dedication…….
