A Reconciling Way Forward:
A gathering for full inclusion
Since the decision of General Conference 2019 in The United Methodist Church, the church has been rocked with sorrow, disbelief and energy.  Yes, energy!  A group of progressive clergy in the Peninsula–Delaware Conference have organized ourselves and are working toward healing and change; we are also announcing our first event:  A Reconciling Way Forward: A gathering for full inclusion.
This event will be held on May 11, 9-12 at Epworth UMC
in Rehoboth Beach, DE.  We are thrilled to have Helen Ryde, SEJ Regional Organizer for Reconciling Ministries Network as our Keynote speaker.  She will inspire and comfort as well as provide leadership to next steps for full inclusion in the UMC.  Part of our mandate for this event is to offer support to individual lay people and clergy who feel alone with this heartbreaking decision from GC2019.
You won’t want to miss this time together!  Register online via EventBrite. On the day of the event, registration opens 8:30am – breakfast is being provided.
We hope to see you there.
About our Key Note Speaker….
Helen Ryde
Regional Organizer for the
Southeast Jurisdiction of the Reconciling Ministries Network
Helen serves as Reconciling Ministries Network’s full-time Southeastern Regional Organizer, prior to this she was the Northeast Regional Organizer, joining RMN in 2012. Helen fell in love with the United States in 1983 when she visited New Jersey and Virginia for a field hockey tour with her high school. She spent 15 happy years in non-denominational charismatic churches in the UK (mostly London and Canterbury), but eventually the whole being gay thing was too tricky to navigate. Eventually Helen moved to Massachusetts in 1998, met Mrs. Lovely (her spouse Kate) in 1999, and found the United Methodist Church in Provincetown in about 2005. Along the way Helen has been a Vice President of a global financial services company and a special needs teacher. She graduated in post-graduate secondary education from Canterbury Christ Church University. Helen is a member of the Order of Deaconess and Home Missioner in The United Methodist Church .
