Sermon Series: HAND IN HAND

September 9 – October 21

Our theme for our fall series is called Hand in Hand – and it’s all about working as a church and working together as Children of God.  We’ll be looking at collaboration on the local, denominational and global level. How do we function best as a church and society, when we work together?  What does the Bible have to say about how we are to co-exist and work and collaborate together?  We start the conversation in September, looking at what it means to collaborate in our church – at Epworth. After talking about the local church

in September, we move to the greater church in October.  On World Communion Sunday (Oct. 7) and the next Sunday, we’ll look at other Christian faiths and then World Religions, to see what we hold in common, and to imagine how we can work together.  On Laity Sunday (Oct. 21), we’ll celebrate our 50th anniversary as a UNITED Methodist Church, and see where God is leading us into the future.

We will be reading Rev. Adam Hamilton’s newly revised book on World Religions in the fall, and by the time we reach October, we’ll be ready for a Sunday of looking at the most vital religions of the world.
