“Each One, Bring One”

for Immanuel Shelter

The Social Justice committee is planning for the third annual “Each One, Bring One” campaign. As in years past, we are asking you to bring items that can be used by Immanuel Shelter in the mission to provide shelter and food for the homeless population in our area.  The recent frigid weather makes their need even more serious. We will collect items in the Narthex that last two Sundays in January (1/20 and 1/27) and you can drop off your donation three. The following items are needed:

  • Coffee;
  • Sugar;
  • Creamer;
  • Powdered drinks;
  • Paper towels;
  • Toilet paper;
  • Cleaning supplies.
Cash donations are critically needed as utility bills are running $5,500 for the season and there are many others needs which must be met. Every dollar counts and helps.

“Great Decisions” Now Being Offered

This is an 8-week study program put out by the Foreign Policy Association. Each year, eight current global issues are chosen and a variety of experts provide brief essays for context on the subjects. The rest is up to us for discussion and understanding. To make the material as current as possible, the resource book used is not printed until the end of the year. A DVD is also provided for the gatherings. Here at Epworth, the Social Justice Committee is sponsoring sessions that will begin meeting on February 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30pm and will continue once a week for eight weeks. Cost of the study book is $30. Susan Morrison will serve as leader.  Come, learn, listen, discuss and enjoy one another! More details as to time and place will be announced at a later date.

Group Travel Opportunities

with Rev. Glenn and Virginia Catley

Two group trips are planned in 2018, and the Catleys invite you to travel with them for quality conversation and shared experiences. In the Spring, a trip to Ireland will focus on the natural beauty and the cultural richness of music, food and the Irish community. In the Fall, an expedition north along the coast of Norway will search for the natural wonder of the Northern Lights. Both trips will educate our minds and bring joy to our hearts through the shared dialogue with each other that occurs throughout the journey. Contact Glenn or Virginia or call Accent On Travel, 302-278-6100, for more details.
